For some unknown reason I downloaded the EQ Trilogy and all the expansions.
I got a 7 day trial and am playing a bit, it mostly seems the same though I just started tonight. I needed to break up the monotony of WoW and Counter Strike and instead of installing Battlefield 2 I went and downloaded EQ haha.
Anyway my characters are still there, and still guilded.

Hehe, they are going to create a new server with new rules. The new server will only have the original game initially (so there will be no PoK or portals). The expansions can only be unlocked after certain events are fullfilled in the original games (dont know if it is going to be linear or not...in other words, do you have to unlock Ruins of Kunark, the first expansion, before you can unlock the next or can you unlock PoK next).
Without the 96% rez, it would be an interesting start. Druids will again be able to make money porting. Without the bazaar, guess there will be the EC tunnel auction house again. Dont know if I have the stomach to redo the first 50 lvls again.

I actually logged on my Wizard Pharfig, and last night I got him flagged for the Plane of Valor (did the executioner trial with 4 level 70's)
I was only on about an hour and a half.
The world is still pretty populated, lots of people in the Plane of Knowledge, people still two and three boxing alot.
The nostalgia is nice but quickly fades when you realize that the game is not as user friendly as the more modern games. You know when you have to know the exact phrase to say in order to get a quest NPC to respond to you.
Or that the tool tips give limited information about spells and abilities. The UI has changed drastically and looks alot like EQ2 UI (even some Vanguard UI stuff in there)
My hotkeys had changed and I didnt know where I could go to edit them hehe.
I plan on logging on tonight and running through the old world, the uber guilds of past seem to have no presence on the server anymore. I am gonna hit up Velious, Kunark and Norrath to check out my favorite expansions.

Long Friday afternoon I decided to see if I could walk down memory lane a bit and see if this site is still linked to a few souls...
Chanle my monk in Eq but those who played in the later times of EQ when LoTL was active will remember me more as Trellis/Tails. I've actually started playing EQ again after an exhausting search for a decent MMO and getting dissapointed each time (including WoW). Playing on the Time Locked/Progression Server Flippy Darkpaw which is now in the Kunark Expansion and it is challenging and decently fun for some weekends.
For those who may read this and are interested Sony issued a 45 day free trial for when the accounts were hacked so that's what I've been playing on so far. I play a character named Mandril (old friend on Cazic) Druid class should you want to stop by and say hello. The server is actually quite full of people and LFG's are common so if you ever wanted to try EQ out again this is the server to do it on!
All the best wishes for those who read this after I'm gone - if I can catch a few old friends through here I'll be pleased.
